GENERAL

• What is BEACH REACH NYC?

Beach Reach NYC is a 9 day beach outreach in the Rockaway Beach area of New York City.  Groups and individuals come from all over the NYC area and from other states in order to spend a few days ministering to the millions of beach goers and surfers who visit the Rockaway Beach area.​

• When is BEACH REACH NYC?

In 2024, Beach Reach will be held July 13-21.  Some local groups and individuals will come and help out for a few hours or for the day.  Others will travel to NYC and stay for a few days or for the whole length of the event.  Some groups and individuals may choose to stay at the UNO BEACH HOUSE for $10 per night.

• Who can participate in BEACH REACH NYC?

Beach Reach is mainly geared toward high school and college age kids, but anyone can register and participate.  All registrants are required to agree to and sign our Beach Reach Code of Conduct.

• What will we do at BEACH REACH NYC?

Beach Reach is 9 days of jam-packed beach activity and ministry.  Every day will have options to choose from.  Among the choices for you to participate in will be:   
boardwalk biking, kiting, skateboarding, surfing, beach pingpong, beach pickleball, beach workout course, beach volleyball, beach cleanup,  handball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, kayaking, kids club on the beach, evangelism, tract distribution, talent show, concerts, puppet show, beach nursing home ministry, movie night, beach baptism event & cookout.
 

 

COST

• Is there a cost to participate in BEACH REACH NYC?

There is no cost for participating,  but there is a $10 per night charge for those staying overnight at the UNO Beach House.   Everyone needs to fillout and turn in the registration form before arriving.

HOUSING & MEALS

• Is housing available?

There is limited housing space to stay at the UNO Beach House for $10 per night, per person.   The UNO Beach House is a 7 minute walk to the beach.  The UBH is conveniently located by the NYC subway, with easy access to JFK and LGA airports. Of course there are also many hotel options all over NYC.
 

• Are meals provided?

There will not be meals provided, but there are kitchens available for use in the UNO Beach House and host churches.  There are countless restaurants all along the beach.

WHAT TO BRING

• ​What should I wear at BEACH REACH NYC?

In July, the tempature can be in the high 90's in NYC.  It's important to bring sunscreen and water bottles to keep hydrated.  On the beach, modest swim suits are required. 
Off the beach, no swim suits are allowed , with modest clothing at all times.

Flipflops or sandals are great for the beach, but for sports and other activities, comfortable tennis shoes/sneakers are needed.
 

• What should I bring & how should I prepare for BEACH REACH NYC?

We will send out information and instructions about preparation and requirements for various activities.  After you register, you will get a tailor-made instruction/orientation packet before you arrive.  Depending on what activities you are signed up for, there may be some prep and training required before you arrive for Beach Reach. 
 

• What should I NOT bring to BEACH REACH NYC?

Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, illegal drugs, fireworks, any kind of weapon, water guns, water balloons. No play station portables or other gaming devices.  Students should be prepared to minimalize all use of social media and phones during Beach Reach.
